At the start of the year, everyone is so excited about the potential that lies ahead. Our heads are full of goals, hopes, and aspirations, but no one has actually started putting in the work yet. Sure, action plans have been laid out, but knocking out this first step to a successful year is the fun part. What makes or breaks someone is when they’re in the grind, doing all they can to hustle and stay on track. As we head further into April, we know that our Envision Bay Consulting team is focused on hitting their monthly goals and keeping their momentum going. But with a strong work ethic and high standards comes a stressful mindset. It can be very easy to get overwhelmed by those goals you set in January, but with a few adjustments, you can manage your stress while still pushing to grow your career.

“The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another.” — William James

PRIORITIZE YOUR TIME

A disorganized day not only leads to poor productivity but to brain aches as well. When you have a clear-cut schedule for how you want your day to proceed, you spend less time moving tasks around and more time in work mode. We don’t know about you, but when we don’t have our next task at the ready, we waste time stressing over how our time is being spent. At the start of your day and before or after lunch, write out your to-do list, and then diligently mark things off. If you’re more tech-reliant, use a scheduling software like Monday.com. Then you can list out what you need to accomplish, have needed notes on hand, and even connect with other team members as needed. When there is less to think about, there’s less to stress about!

UNPLUG DURING YOUR TIME OFF

When you’re at work, you should be locked in. However, when you’re done for the day, you have to shift your mindset, and we know how challenging this can be. Our advice is to take a few deep breaths, shake out your shoulders, and push work to the back of your mind. Burnout is real, and when you take the job home with you, you’re not giving yourself time to regroup. If needed, remove email notifications from your phone so you’re not tempted to do a quick check or type out a response to someone late at night. Find balance in your life; only then will you develop a mindset that can handle the highs and lows of a high-pressure career.

At Envision Bay Consulting, we have set some pretty high goals for 2023 and are giving our all to see them accomplished. While we love what we do and are willing to go the extra mile to ensure success, we know that managing our stress levels is a top priority. Mindcare is a lifestyle, but to start, we encourage you to prioritize your time and find balance between your various roles. With a healthy mind, you have the potential to be your best self professionally and personally!
